Dental Bridges, Crowns, Dentures, and More – Baton Rouge Restorative Dentistry Options
If your smile is marred by chipped, cracked, badly damaged, or even missing teeth, restorative dentistry can correct these flaws and give you the functional, attractive smile you deserve. Bluebonnet Dental Care provides a range of advanced restorative options, including dental implants, inlays and onlays, dental bridges, crowns, and dentures, to patients from Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Mandeville, and surrounding areas. Our team of experts is committed to providing treatment of the highest quality and helping patients reach their dental goals.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are often an excellent solution for missing teeth. Bridges are comprised of three parts: an attractive artificial tooth attached to two metal or ceramic crowns, one on either side of the artificial tooth. The dentist cements the crowns to the natural tooth on either side of the gap to anchor the artificial tooth securely in place. (We recommend implant-supported bridges whenever appropriate.)
Placement of Dental Bridges
The placement of dental bridges typically requires two visits to our Baton Rouge office. The dentist begins both visits by administering a local anesthetic. In the first visit, the dentist slightly reduces the teeth adjacent to the gap to accommodate the dental crowns. He then takes molds of the mouth, which lab technicians use to custom-craft the bridge. When the bridge is ready (usually about one week), the patient returns for his or her second visit. In this visit, the dentist places the dental crowns. Next, he bonds the dental bridge to the crowns. Finally, he assures its fit with the surrounding teeth and bite. With proper maintenance, dental bridges can last for several years.

Dental Crowns
Dental crowns can be used to cover dental implants, protect damaged teeth, cover teeth after root canal therapy, and anchor dental bridges. Bluebonnet Dental Care recommends implant-supported crowns for the replacement of missing teeth in appropriate candidates.
Dentures
Dentures can be an excellent option for patients who are missing several consecutive teeth or even all of the teeth in the mouth. Modern dentures are attractive and natural looking, and they can result in a great boost to one’s self-confidence. When anchored with dental implants, dentures do not slip or slide, making them the ultimate tooth replacement option.
The Dentures Process
Like the placement of dental bridges and crowns, the dentures placement process typically requires two visits to our Baton Rouge office. In the first visit, the dentist takes molds of the teeth and mouth, which he sends to the dental laboratory that will custom-craft the dentures. When the dentures are ready (in approximately one week), the patient returns to our office for a second visit. In this visit, the dentist anchors the dentures to the gums or surrounding teeth (either with denture adhesive, dental implants, or bridges) and assures the dentures’ comfortable fit in the mouth. Once in place, dentures allow patients to enjoy restored oral function.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are among the most sophisticated tooth replacement options available. Implants anchor artificial teeth (dental crowns, bridges, and dentures) directly to the jawbone for a secure, natural-looking restoration. Bluebonnet Dental Care provides traditional dental implants as well as Mini Dental Implants. Contact our office for more information.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are an excellent alternative to traditional fillings for moderate to severe tooth decay. Inlays and onlays are laboratory-crafted of tooth-colored ceramic or composite materials shaped to precisely fill a patient’s cavity. The dentist places an inlay within the cusps of a tooth, while onlays are used to cover the entire chewing surface of the tooth.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
A full mouth reconstruction can give you a healthy, beautiful smile no matter how severe your dental problems. Using restorative and cosmetic dentistry, our dentists repair or replace missing or broken teeth and badly discolored teeth and correct other flaws. Our team of experts customizes each patient’s treatment plan around his or her specific treatment goals.
